EU threatens to impose sanctions against Russia in response to referendums

The European Union threatens to impose new sanctions against Russia in the event of referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This is stated in the statement of the head of EU diplomacy Joseph Borrellreports RIA Novosti.

“Russia, its political leadership, everyone involved in these ‘referendums,’ other violations of international law in Ukraine, will be held accountable,” Borrell said. “Additional restrictive measures against Russia will also be considered.”

The Public Chambers of the DPR and the LPR previously appealed to the heads of the republics Denis Pushilin e Leonid Pasechnik with the initiative to immediately hold a referendum on the accession to Russia. The Public Council of the Kherson region addressed the head of the region with the same proposal.
