Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting on the development of the high-tech industry “Quantum Computing”, with a keynote speech by the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences “Quantum Technologies”, the General Director of JSC “NIIME”. “Academic
Gennady Krasnikov.

“The government pays a lot of attention to the development of the quantum computing high-tech industry,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko. – This is one of the most promising areas of the coming years and an integral part of our joint work with the Russian Academy of Sciences, universities and state corporations to achieve technological sovereignty… quantum processor, on which operations have already been demonstrated using a unique domestic technology – kudits – multi-level information carriers. This is a unique technology possessed by three countries in the world, including Russia. This year we hope that the 16-qubit processor will also be achieved. We are systematically moving towards the goal set by the roadmap: to reach 100 qubits by 2025.”

According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, a team of unique competence was formed to solve these problems: more than 300 scientists, 18 research groups. To also work on the project
World-renowned researchers in quantum computing are involved, and have the highest citation rate.

According to Gennady Krasnikov, after achieving excellence in quantum computing, it will be possible to bring many areas of the economy to a qualitatively new level. This applies to medicine, security, logistics and many other industries.

“We will be able to carry out a complete modeling of arbitrary quantum systems, we will have new opportunities to create materials, model a wide range of biological, social and economic processes,” he stressed.

It is planned to allocate at least 100 billion rubles from the federal budget for the implementation of all agreements and roadmaps until 2025. At the same time, the organizations that concluded agreements co-finance the developments in no less volume than the state.

The development of quantum computing in Russia is carried out within the framework of an agreement of intent between the Government and the Rosatom State Corporation.

Together with the state corporation, 14 leading Russian research centers, mainly academic institutions, are working on the project.
