AvtoVAZ plans to produce 800 thousand cars a year in the medium term, said the head of the company Maxim Sokolov, writes TASS.

“In the medium term, for 2026 and beyond, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is also set [задача] to increase the production volume up to 800 thousand cars per year. This will make it possible to create a platform that exists in Togliatti. If necessary, we will connect our assembly capabilities in Izhevsk,” said the company’s president.
According to Sokolov, AvtoVAZ will break even with the production of 300-400 thousand cars a year.
In 2021, 350.7 thousand Lada cars were sold in Russia, which is 2.1% more than in 2020, the company reported. In 2019, 362.4 thousand Lada cars were sold in Russia (1% more than in 2018).
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Sokolov previously noted that the board of directors, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, set AvtoVAZ the task of producing 500,000 cars by 2023.
Sokolov also called on Russians to switch to Lada and announced an increase in Russian market share to 40%. The production of a new family of Lada cars will begin at the end of 2024, later the production of a crossover will begin, said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.
